What is Hygge?

Updated: Jun 22

In 2017, hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") became a popular Danish lifestyle trend in the United States. So, what is hygge? According to Dictionary.com, hygge is the feeling of coziness and contentment evoked by simple comforts, such as being wrapped in a blanket, having good conversations, enjoying food, etc.

Hygge is not just a concept, it's a feeling we experience in our everyday settings. For instance, when we come home after a long day at work and take a bubble bath, or when we sip our favorite beverage. It's a feeling that promotes well-being, making us feel happy, relaxed, and comfortable in our surroundings. It's a feeling of warmth and contentment that is uniquely hygge.
